From August 4 to 7, 2025, the 10th Asia-Pacific Congress on Catalysis (APCAT-10) was held at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre. Prof. Songbo He led members of the DNL0902 group to participate in the conference and present their latest findings.
Team members delivered outstanding oral presentations in two parallel sessions, "Biomass Conversion & Polymer Degradation" and "Environmental Catalysis," showcasing frontier research in biomass catalytic conversion and challenging wastewater treatment. In the "Biomass Conversion & Polymer Degradation" session, Associate Prof. Sun Wenjing presented her work titled "Catalytic Pyrolysis of Glycerol to bio-BTX: Product Recycling, ASPEN Modeling, TEA and LCA." Her report provided critical insights into the industrial feasibility of biorefinery processes from the perspectives of engineering simulation and systematic assessment, highlighting the close integration of fundamental research and practical application. Assistant Researcher Piao Weiling delivered a presentation on "Catalytic pyrolysis of castor oil to bio-BTX," systematically elaborating on the catalytic process and mechanism for efficiently producing high-value aromatics from non-food biomass oils. Her excellent presentation was honored with the "Best Oral Presentation Award" in this session. In the "Environmental Catalysis" session, Ph.D. student Khan Yousaf reported on his research "High-Temperature Catalytic Wet Peroxide Oxidation of High-Salinity Wastewater," offering a novel approach to addressing challenges in industrial wastewater treatment. Ph.D. candidate Yao Chenxing presented her work on "Swirl-Flow CWPO for Rapid Cyanide Removal with Bimetallic Nanospheres," demonstrating a technology with highly efficient and rapid pollutant degradation capabilities.
Through this conference, the team not only engaged in in-depth exchanges with international peers on the latest advances in catalytic science but also gained broad recognition from attending experts for the outstanding performance of its young researchers. This participation has further enhanced the team's international influence in related research fields.
